I-Ready Math Requirements
I-Ready use can help your child’s math skills.
I-Ready provides personalized math lessons online based on each student’s needs. Students use I-Ready for at least 30 minutes per week at school, enough to complete at least one lesson. Unfinished lessons will be assigned as homework.
Students who are not proficient in math based upon screeners or ISASPs will also be required to use I-Ready outside of school hours, reinforcing the school/home partnership. All students may complete additional lessons at home.

📚Learning Habits Matter
Math Beyond the Worksheet
Life is full of math problems. They just don’t come with worksheets.
Word problems help students learn to use mathematics to solve real situations. At home, families encounter opportunities every day to help children recognize when math is useful and figure out how to apply it.
PK–2
- We’re setting the table for six people. How many forks do we need?
- We have eight cookies to share equally among four people. How many does each person get?
Grades 3–5
- We’re 120 miles from our destination. About how much longer will it take to get there?
- The movie starts at 2:15 and lasts 95 minutes. About when will it end?
Grades 6–8
- Which is the better deal: the larger package or two smaller ones?
- We need to arrive by 3:00. When should we leave, allowing time for stops?
The goal isn’t to turn every family activity into a math lesson. It’s to help children recognize that math is a tool for figuring things out, not just something they do on a worksheet.

💭Personal Sharing
I didn’t realize how much coordination is needed for a wedding across the country! My oldest daughter got married Saturday in Atlanta. Family and friends drove or flew from various parts of Iowa, Kansas, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and many other locations. Coordinating arrivals and departures, hotel rooms, and transportation alone was a major task. Who needs to be where and when? How many vehicles do we have? How many seats are in the vehicles? Who needs the car seats for the little ones? Who can Uber? It’s almost as much work as planning the wedding itself!
Amidst all that hustle and bustle, however, time did seem to stand still as my daughter and her fiance were exchanging their vows and rings. It was as if God was saying “Stop! Everything else can pause. This is what really matters.” And in that moment, all the headaches of coordinating the weekend were worth it.
