Mrs. Runyan’s Biography
My name is Shannon Runyan and I was born and raised in California, I developed a passion for education that has guided my career for more than three decades. After my husband was transferred to Iowa, our family made the move to the Midwest, where I have continued doing what I love most—teaching and inspiring students.
I began my teaching career in 1995, first in California and later in Iowa. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to teach students from preschool through high school, although the majority of my experience has been in middle school science. I enjoy helping students discover the excitement of science through hands-on learning, inquiry, and real-world connections.
The 2026–2027 school year marks my fifth year at John F. Kennedy Catholic School. I am grateful to be part of a school community that values faith, academic excellence, and fostering a lifelong love of learning in every student.
